Arhitektura dečijih prostora vrtića u Bariču | Studio A&D Architects SADA

Architecture of public buildings for children stands out for its design principles, emphasizing both the high functionality it must provide and a design that stimulates imagination and motor skills. Through the design of the kindergarten in Barič, SADA architects have created a striking and engaging space for children.

Buildings for children are often distinguished by their color, form, and incorporated micro-environments that encourage play. In its primary design, the kindergarten in Barič, constructed by M Enterijer Gradnja, is conceived as a grouping of archetypal house forms with gable roofs, housing separate classroom units, while smaller spaces, such as porches for outdoor activities, appear between them.

The individual “house” units with classrooms are characterized by façades in various pastel colors, complemented by anthracite-colored joinery that echoes the form of the façade, introducing a contemporary detail to the exterior environment. Using orange as an accent color to delineate porches and unify the design of the entire building, the architects created contrasts between open and enclosed spaces, further emphasized by the interplay of pastel and bright colors, resulting in an environment that supports child development through visual stimulation.

Learning through tactile surfaces and visual contrasts is embodied in this project through the use of brick on the walls and elements of the kindergarten’s landscape architecture. On the façade facing the courtyard, contrasts appear between the textured brick walls and the smooth surfaces of bright yellow benches, as well as differences in the types of Arhibet paving in the courtyard and playground areas, encouraging children to explore their environment through touch.

Following the pastel tones of the façade, the playground is designed as a polygon with Jelaplay climbing structures, equipment, and play furniture. Within the kindergarten’s playground, an environment reminiscent of park playgrounds—familiar and inviting for play—has been created, while safety is further enhanced by placing the playground within the fenced courtyard of the building.

Indoor play areas are designed as bright spaces with a pastel-colored strip along the lower part of the walls, allowing groups to be identified by color. The upper zone of the classrooms, painted white, reflects natural daylight, making the environment airy and pleasant for children.

The functional characteristics of the kindergarten building are emphasized through the selection of ceramics, sanitary fixtures, and insulation materials, creating an optimal environment for children. For example, the restrooms feature sanitary fixtures from Keramika Leskovac and ceramic tiles from Zorka Keramika in Šabac, while the building is insulated with Mapei waterproofing and Knauf thermal insulation.Article adapted from daibau.rs
